[This page is part of a mirror of my Canvas learning system pages I created for my Drama 112 Intro Stage Makeup class at DVC. If you want to use this content for another Canvas class shell you can find it in Canvas Commons by searching for “Tara Maginnis” and you can download all or part of this directly into your shell with all the extra cool formatting of colored divider lines, right side embedded Giphy animations, etc. already put in, if you are working with a different system, it is ok to copy and paste from here, and then customize the pages as you need for your classes].
Remember the Plan:
You must create a makeup for a God, a Fairy, a Mythical Beast or Alien, that combines elements from the natural world (characteristics of animals, plants or minerals) and humanoid appearance. The skin MUST have a color, texture or pattern that is not normally human. You may use store-bought or home-made prosthesis or stencils if you wish.
What to do:
Consult your rendering and gather your makeup materials
Apply your makeup for the Fantasy Mythical Creature Makeup Project, to your face or your model’s face and either have your instructor (Tara) photograph it, or photograph it yourself for grading. (Include a photo with the makeup and the rendering.)
If doing your own photo shoot Costume yourself from the shoulders up with fabric/props, etc. you found.
Do a photo shoot of this project and give yourself time to get some perfect clear photos from many angles and upload at least the best 3-4 to the link below. It is OK to have a friend take your photos, but if they do, MAKE THEM WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW!!!
This is a reminder of how to get good photos of your work:

Definition: Makeup rendering- drawing of a makeup design one intends to execute
Draw a color makeup rendering on one of your personalized face outline sheets, a generic outline sheet, or freehand, or with computer software of your planned Final Mythical Makeup and submit below. It is OK to alter or even abandon your design if you find there are problems once you try it on your face, but still do a rendering. When you photograph your makeup remember to take a photo of it alongside your rendering as this will look great in your portfolio. Remember afterwards to also to put this rendering project into your Portfolium Folio for the Morgue Assignment due next week so you don’t have to do it later.
